Dear Friends, Family, Future Teachers and People Who Randomly Stumbled Across This Website,
This portfolio is supposed to show the world what I have been doing in “Pandemic 7th grade.” I have been learning out of Kathy’s garage, where she teaches us the four main subjects (math, science, language arts, and social studies). We have gone through regular math and math one this year, which is very impressive. We only go to school 4 hours a day, four days a week, and we are learning twice as much as regular school in not even half the time. Every language arts period, we work for a half hour on this portfolio, writing paragraphs on each of the different work pieces that we pick out.
I have grown a lot this year. Because of the pandemic, I have learned that there are real threats in the world, and, even though we are doing all that we can to stop them, sometimes we just can’t do very much other than wait it out. I have also grown because of school. In science we are learning about the human body, and what was very confusing before is now crystal clear. Same with math. And language arts. And social studies. And spanish. To add on, I have learned a lot about life in general. How to handle conversations. What I am going to be in life after highschool (I want to be an architect). In conclusion, I have grown a lot this year, because of the pandemic and because of school.
My favorite subject in school is math. Pretty much everything just makes sense to me after a little bit of explanation. The Quadratic Formula is a particularly fun one. So is the Pythagorean Theorem. Some of the formulas you can’t really use in real life, but others you can. I realize that the simple equations, multiplication, division, subtraction, and addition, are the roots of it all. Every single equation or formula uses complicated
multiplication, or subtraction. That is one of the reasons why I like math. It’s just a simple equation all put together.

Favorite Part
My favorite part about school is playing around with my friends. Every day after first period, we go outside to play. Usually we play soccer in the street, but sometimes we play other things, like basketball or whiffle ball. It is the most fun part of the day because you get to talk and laugh with your friends while getting some exercise.
